I know I am a Midwesterner for many reasons but one of the reasons is I love all the different seasons. I even love winter; all the beautiful white snow and the frost and the cold temperatures that make you catch your breath. I think it might be the very clear and clean air you get to breathe when you are outside in the winter that reminds me how wonderful things really can be. BUT, this winter has been different, I was not able to get out much so instead of enjoying all the winter wonderfulness I watched from my window. Not my way to enjoy the winter so I am ready for spring. We had a few really nice days with warm sunshine and temperatures that did not require hats, gloves, and scarves. So, I was ready to get back outside and start enjoying the outdoors again. Spring flowers were starting to peak out of the ground, all things were looking up and then this happened….
So, with winter not giving up I decided to spring things up on the inside. I went to my fabric stash and decided I was going to pick anything that reminded me of spring, purple for Hyacinths, yellow for daffodils, pink for tulips, and just a few other colors that looked like spring to me.
I cut a strip of each of the fabrics and started sewing. If you have been reading my blog you will see a few weeks back I made the No Strip Left Behind quilt. This is the same plan only with smaller and fewer blocks. I sewed fabrics together, cut the new pieces apart and sewed them back together. Added a checkerboard border and a second white border. Attached a binding and Ta Da! I have a spring look on my table.
As you can see from the picture there is a lot of quilting in this small project. My #Babylock Solaris machine makes adding the quilting so easy. I always talk about how great this machine is but it truly helps me make my ideas come to reality. And I have a lot of ideas rolling around in my brain.
Since my table is in front of the window I look out all the time, I am hoping that Spring gets the idea and chases old man winter away once and for all this year.
